Cedars Campground News
First Nation Proverb: "We do not inherit the world from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children."
 Happy Halloween!
If you weren't here last Saturday night, you missed one of the best events of the season. The entire evening was a blast and the Barn looked amazing. What a way to end the season for 2009.
All we heard that night was this is the best Halloween Party they've ever been to and rivalled the bars downtown Toronto. We may be out in the sticks, but boy do we know how to throw a good party!
A huge thank you goes out to Daniel and Luke for putting this event together.
They, along with their team, Tracy, Rob, David, Jas and Murray, coordinated and prepped the Barn for this event. You all did an amazing job and made the place look great. Thank you all very much.
The Maze was fantastic and scared more than a few. Even Jas got Bevan, who thought he was a fake monster in the maze. It was a work of art!
The costumes were great, very creative this year. It was very hard to pick a winner, so we went with audience applause. Congratulations to Will for his shower costume and to Sheila for her Ozzy outfit. They both took home 1st prize of $100 off their 2010 seasonal for best Male and Female Costume. If you have any pictures you'd like to post, send them to Jason@cedarscampground.com.
Everything is now closed up for the season. The roads will remain open for the time being, but be prepared for them to close November 2nd. If the weather holds, we will keep them open one more week, but can guarantee they will be closed November 9th.
Thank you all, seasonals & campers for a great year. We look forward to seeing you all again in the spring. I'm sure there will be Cedars reunions over the winter at the local bars in Toronto and Hamilton like last year. Check out the forums for dates.
Chris, Bevan and Ken
Well, we've done it again, another season under our belt. It wasn't one of the greatest seasons weather wise, but we certainly had some good times and great events.
We want to start off tonight by thanking Myrn, Chantal, Stef and Heidi for preparing and doing a great job on the food for tonight. As well as a huge thank you to Laurie and Barb for bringing back the chocolate fountain this year. I know how you all missed it last year, I certainly heard enough about it.
We want to welcome all of our new seasonals for 2009, this was a record year for new additions and just goes to show you Cedars is the place to be. Welcome to Cedars!
As always, there is a list of people to thank for making Cedars Campground what it is today, but understand we thank each and every one of you for being part of Cedars Campground.
To the bartenders of Cedars. A round of applause to Rob, Fred, Kim, Derrick, Les, Mona, Laurie, Barb, Miss Vicki, Josh and Michael, A job well done, thank you.
And our bar backs Rob & Frank. Thank you for keeping us stocked up!
Quick side note, since we're talking about the bar. We want to thank Kevin Beech for dedicating his time and his own money for redoing the bar here at the Barn. Thank you Kevin, we have a little token here of our appreciation.
And if we didn't have these 3 guys, we wouldn't need bartenders. Thank you to DJ Thunder, Ranger Rick and Dancing Monkey for the great job of keeping the music alive at Cedars.
To our new form of entertainment at the pool bar and sometimes the Barn. To Becky and Cathie for setting up and making Karaoke a great time!
To Myrn and his crew at the Red Roof. Thank you to all the staff this year. Great food, no complaints and short wait times. I don't know what Paul Bellini was talking about. Thank you to Chantal, Stef, Heidi, Rhonda, Joe, RJ, Damien, and of course Myrn for feeding us this season. Bevan has introduced me to the stove in the house, so I guess I will have to start cooking again.
To the staff of the Piggly Wiggly. You are our life line in the park and thank you all for keeping us safe at nights. Cathie, Angel and John.
There are 2 other people we would like to recognize and thank for their work at the gate.
To the woman who keeps us safe at nights on the long weekend and who misses every event the park has, except for this one. A round of applause for Kim please.
To Mr Piggly Wiggly himself, Thank you Dennis for your dedication to Cedars and helping us out on the long weekends when needed and really anything else we ask of you. Thank you.
To the crew that makes this place look FANTASTIC!
Every year the compliments just keep rolling in. Beautiful flowers, golf green lawns, crystal clear pool and always clean of garbage.
Daniel, Luke, Mike, and one who couldn't be here tonight, Sam and of course my lovely Bevan. Thank you all for your dedication to Cedars. We appreciate your hard work. First impressions are very important and ours is great when you drive into the park.
To Greg for setting up the Art Show this year. I understand it was a huge success on the first night. To all those who are interested in participating next year, be sure to talk to Greg at site # 47.
To Troy and Andrew who couldn't be here tonight due to a family function. Thank you for the Golf Cart Giveaway idea and for all your help with Les at the show and events.
To Miss Mona, Thank you for taking on the task of organizing the Drag King show, what a night and a great job on bringing back the energy of the Red Pump Parade. A huge success!
Congrats to Rob & Frank, our Red Pump award winners. We look forward to the parade in 2010 and Rob....Thank you for being Les' stage manager. I know he appreciates your help.
To Jerry, who couldn't be here tonight because it's too cold. Thank you for getting our posters together, organizing the outside entertainment here at the park, our weekly newsletter and keeping us informed of what's going on here at the park.
To the queens and kings who volunteer their time to make our shows what they are today. A round of appplause please!
And to our biggest queen, Mr Lesley O Shea. A man who organizes all our events, shows, helps out with the Red Pump and who really is there for us on all accounts. Thank you very much Les.
I think that about covers it, except for 3 other people.
To the man behind the scenes, for helping out on long weekends and who we know is looking forward to cutting grass in 3.5 years when he retires, our Dad Ken.
To our mother Marg for being there whenever we need a helping hand. Thank you for taking care of Mortimer on the long weekends and making those great meals, even though we didn't get to eat them hot!
And to my partner Bevan, what a great year the 2 of us had this season. It was great having you here helping out and your eye for seeing little things that I don't. Thank you.
We want to remind you that we will be having dances for the next two Saturdays and our final event of the season, the Halloween Party on October 17th. Be sure to come and check out Cedars Scare!
Cheers to Team Cedars! Thank you very much and have a great night!
Chris, Bevan and Ken
Well I didn't make it to the park this past week end, but from what I can tell I missed a really good show. I mean I have read nothing but great things on the net and heard fantastic reviews from people on Church St. I am sorry to Mona and the performers for not being there and supporting some really good talent from our Women of the Park.
The following is part of an email that I received from Rob the stage manager and his take on the show. Also, from what I have heard he and Les were also thanked a lot from the performers for their own unique talent in helping with the show.
The drag kings were fantastic!
I do believe everyone was completely surprised by the high level of talent.
Participants included Leslie-Ann, Sheila, Barb, Heidi, Beckie, Stefanie and Chantelle along with the Mona leading the charge!
Well they were just full of surprises and with incredible dance moves!
Beckie was great as John Denver singing live as well as Stef's live version of Cohen's Simple man. They were both so good, I don't think most realized it was live...
Gerry, it was truly amazing to see new performers- putting it all out there-
I am so lucky because I get to see the sheer joy on their faces when they come backstage after a number- and what an amazing bunch of girls- or ladies to work with...
Mona more than held her own- didn't flinch- and you should know the batteries failed in our mikes not less than four times- she just took it on the chin and kept rolling.
So we know next years drag king show will be bigger and better...
Chris got up himself and congratulated all on a job well done- and basically raised the gauntlet for the diva show...
After the show there was a fantastic level of energy out on the dance floor- it seemed pretty much every one of the seasonals who like to dance and were in the park- were on the floor!
I want to add that to make a show like this happen we are also gifted with amazing tech people that donate their time and energy.
Look forward to this coming week end and the annual Diva Show.
Love, Jerry
They say if you build it they will come, well Chris and Bevan have built it and come they did!
What a fantastic way to end the summer, but also remember that we still have many events left in the 2009 season.
Friday morning when I arrived at the park, the back forty was already filling up with beautiful men and women everywhere. There was a huge number of trailers and motor homes this week end.
Friday we started off the week end with karaoke at the pool bar Splash and a dance at the barn.
Saturday the weather was just getting better and better and what a fun day at the Splash bar. In the evening we had our annual illumination night. I love this event as the seasonals and campers put on such an amazing light and candle show throughout the park. A few friends and I had a great dinner and then we walked through the park. I am always amazed at the talent of decoration throughout the park and how so many have made up their sites with such comfort. Just a hey out to Wolf and Gilles who are two new (couple), seasonals. I was so taken with their site. It truly is beautiful and I hope that all of you got to see their site. I mention them as they are new to the park and so into what we have to share. However, I also want to say thank you to all that participated in this event.
I went to the dance Saturday night and boy am I glad I did. Rob you totally freak'n rocked the place. I danced and danced. My sisters and I could not keep our eyes in our heads looking at all those beautiful bodies dancing and gyrating on the dance floor and elsewhere. And Rob when you through on "the twist" I totally loved it. It was amazing to see people just freaked at what was happening, in a good way.
Sunday brought with it another beautiful sunny day. It was just a nice day for a parade. And parade we did. Mona who was last year's winner and had the responsibility to put this year's parade on did a great job marketing the parade and the results were that we had a great parade with lots of participation. It was great to see to so many people out supporting the parade route as well. And thanks to all of the people that spent time on their floats. Although, honorable mentions were made I do believe that every float was a winner.
But I do have to say, Glenda Rose and her Horseshoe Harlots totally amaze me and us with everyone one of their antics and participation in all events. Michael and Chris I just love your fires and your float was totally there. And who doesn't like a float of dancing men, or woman dressed in leather. I mean come on what more is there to life.
At the end of the parade we had the presentation of this year's Red Pump recipient. I am so excited to say that those two hot hunks that will help anyone out and give freely of their time Frank and Rob have the honor of this title for the 2010 season.
Sunday night we had a guest D.J. at the barn and did he wow us with his talent... and looks. The dance was hot; I even danced for a second night in a row. His name is Dwayne Minard and if you can, do catch him when he is spinning around Toronto or anywhere else that he may spin.
To cap off this fantastic day Rob and Rick had their annual after bar fire. Although I couldn't make it I have heard that it was well attended and quite a nice wind down fire.
Monday we finished a fabulous week end of events with the talent of the world's DIVA, Michelle Ross. I have been a friend of and have seen Michelle perform many times and each and every time I do I am so amazed at just watching her. She is beautiful, talented and well she just commands her audience. And we love her. The show as totally dedicated to Cassie who just adores Michelle.
So what can one say after such a fantastic eventful week end.
Thank you Chris and Bevan.
Also a huge thank you to the whole staff of the park, they all worked their asses off to serve everyone in every way possible. I don't want to put all of the names down here as I know I will miss someone and that is just not nice. But I and everyone else thank you Cedars' Staff.
Just a heads up though this week end coming is the first annual Drag King show at the Barn on Saturday night. Show starts at 8:43 PM and don't be late. The following week we have the annual DIVA show.
Also other events such as the ART IN THE PARK, Kendall and Karaoke are still on the schedule.
So the season is not over yet.
Love, Jerry
Well, what a great week end that we all just had.
Friday I wondered up to Splash bar where Kendall was playing to a full deck. What a great time everyone was having dancing and singing along with him. After he was finished I wandered over to the Barn where there was a dance going on and again noticed that everyone was having a great time dancing and partying.
The variety show on Saturday night was a huge success; it was one of my favorite shows to do. Les did an amazing job organizing the show and the performers came and did their thing to the delight of a wonderful audience. I am so amazed at the talent in our park. Many thanks also to Chris, David, Michael, Rick and our D.J. Rick for a great job and of course a huge thank you as well to our stage manager Rob.
Coming up this week end on Friday night is the second underwear party. The first one was so amazing that I am sure that this one will be even more so. Dancing Monkey will be spinning and we are all looking forward to that.
If you don't want to stop the party, make sure you make it up to the dance on Saturday night where we will be dancing to D.J. Thunder.
In two weeks we will be surrounded by long week end guests. Labour Day celebrations at Cedars are the highlight of the summer. There will be three dances at the Barn. Kendall will be playing on Friday night at Splash. Saturday night is our famous illumination night, where everyone will be lighting thousands and thousands of tea lights throughout the park. This peaceful event will be followed by the high energy sounds of D.J. Thunder at the Barn.
Sunday will highlight the Red Pump Parade, this year it is hosted by Mona and if you require any information regarding joining in please make sure to see her. Sunday night we will be having Karaoke hosted by Foofer, an all time favorite of Cedars.
And to round out this week end of fun we will be having the Fabulous Miss. Michelle Ross, on Monday afternoon Poolside.
This is not a week end to miss.
Love, Jerry
Here is the 411! With the weather staying hot, Cedars is the place to be this week-end!!! Cool is the word!! The pool will be cool. You can cool off with a blender drink at Splash, our pool bar, and listen to some cool tunes. And, all the cool kids will be at the annual Variety Show on Saturday night at the Barn (10:00 pm). I have it from a very reliable source that this show is going to be whack!! Rumour has it, that along with the great talent that is in the park, there is one cool act coming in that has performed around the world. Don't miss it!!
And the word to sum up this past week-end at Cedars was? Hot! Hot! Hot! Everyone was feeling the summer vibe on the week-end. Kendal rocked it out Friday night at Splash and this definitely set the mood for the week-end. Splash was packed with seasonals, campers and visitors alike trying to cool down from the summer temperatures that finally arrived. Hell, it was hot enough to drive Ethel and Rose from the Compound. Someone said it was due to a malfunction with the A/C. Someone else told me that someone forgot to order their weekly medicinal supplies from town, Nonetheless out they were, looking dapper in their summer finery. One thing to say about the humidity; it will take the wrinkles out of anything.
With the temperature hovering around 30, the pool was packed Saturday and Sunday. Dancing Monkey did not disappoint and put together a wild eclectic mix of dance music from the T dances at Splash. Splash features Kendal on Friday nights (weather permitting) and recently it appears that Saturday night is turning into karaoke night. So if you are looking to cool off and release your inner Diva, Splash is the place to be on Saturday nights.
A new event took place on Saturday: if you missed it this year, make sure you don't next year. Kudos goes to Kim and her padres for putting together the Survivor event. It was a blast. There were about twenty-five participants vying for prizes and lots of spectators to cheer them on. I don't know which was funnier; watching the participants trying to master the challenges or the spectators in golf carts going from one event to the next like it was a PGA tournament. Did I mention all the challenges took place around or in the pavilion? The Seasonals were so busy trying to eliminate each other that in the end campers took home the top prizes. I know that the winner of the event, a first-timer to Cedars, will certainly remember his first time and has an amazing watch to show for it!! More than some of us can say!!
All in all it was a great week-end. Who could ask for more; great entertainment at Splash, a great event on Saturday, and without fail DJ Thunder always get the party going and keeps it going at the Barn.
I was walking up Church Street on Monday mourning and a friend of mine asked me how my week end was and I said OMG, it was so much fun, I really had a great time. He replied that that is what I say every time he asks me about my week end. I thought about it and well, he is right, the week ends are just so much fun. We really have it going on here at Cedars.
Friday night started the week end off with a huge event, our annual Mr/Ms. Cedars Leather contest and dance. It is the first time we had it on a Friday night and I think that it worked. We were joined in our celebration of leather by Spearhead Toronto and the CCGRA. A huge thank you to Frank the President of Spearhead for hosting the contest. A huge thank you to the contestants. I want to say that some of our lesbian seasonals are in to some heavy leather gear, LOL. And finally a huge thank you to our own Pete for pulling this together and organizing the event. Our singing Rouge won the contest for Ms. Leather Cedars and Luke won for Mr. Leather Cedars. I also want to acknowledge and thank Michael Leger's mom for making the sashes.
Also want to say that Kendall was certainly entertaining yet once again poolside on the same night.
Saturday gave us another rain day, Hmmm! but it was not enough to dampen the spirits of the CCGRA and us part time cowboys and cowgirls. The show and dance on Saturday night was incredible. The show was fantastic with lots of participation from our own talent pool. Les was top notch and we the seasonals had a fantastic time. I love to watch a bunch of people have a good time and every time the CCGRA come up for their annual event a good time is had.
One of the big surprises on the Saturday night dance was the D.J. spinning of Teacup. I mean with his partner in spinning Tracy, the dance floor was packed all night. It was a great change to our normal line up and sometimes that is so much fun too. I hope that we see Teacup at least once more this season.
Want to also acknowledge the tech guys, Michael, David, Rob the stage manager, Rick and of course D.J. Thunder.
"Sore, wet, hot, bald, free, kitty!!!"
Also want to thank George's Play on Church for their contribution to the two post parties.
I thank Saunders and Georgia Peach for their kinds words at the dance and I am trying to get this together and back to normal.
I did not make it to the Paint your Babe or Hunk poolside on Sunday but judging from the pictures on facebook it looked like fun. I certainly could tell that Kim and Rob were having a good time. LOL
Coming up this week end is the Survivor Games on Saturday afternoon and it is being hosted by Kim and it is a favorite to many.
The following week end is the Variety Night Show; please let Les know if you are going to be in this show. I think that the show is at 9:43 PM at the Barn.
Love Jerry
Wow! Wow! Wow! Summer is finally here. What a totally fantastic week end. And the weather was great the whole way through.
A huge thank you to Troy and Andrew for their Toga Party, although I couldn't attend I did see the pictures on Face book and it looked like a lot of fun.
It was so nice to see so many new faces in the park this week end. Is it me or are they getting younger!
The music at the dance and poolside was well received and we thank our resident D.J. Thunder and Dancing Monkey.
Miss Conception and Teron Blake put on a magnificent show poolside on Sunday and then their group of friends partied hardy for the rest of the week end. Thank you to them for coming out to entertain.
The Flip Flop party was also another huge success and we thank David McIntyre for his hard work and I do believe David will be giving his thank you in the next newsletter.
OMG, Charles you had so many people show up for your annual Chili Party, just how do you do it. Thank you so much yet once again. I hear that some people are basing their next trip around your party next year.
Also of note were all the wonderful singers during the week ends Karaoke shows.
Well, the leather men and cowboys are coming this week end. On Friday night, we will be having our annual leather dance and that will include the Mr. and Miss Cedars leather contest. If you want to compete please see the current reigning Mr. Cedars Leather, Pete.
On Saturday night we will be having our annual CCGRA Shindig. The cowboys and cowgirls will be our guests for their annual show and dance. The show will of course be hosted by our own Mr. Lesley O'shey. Get out your cowboy hats and lets party. D.J. Teacup will be spinning this event and we look forward to that.
On Sunday Pete will be hosting his annual "Paint your Hunk and Babes" poolside, so do come up and grab a burger or dog and well paint a hunk or babe sort of speak. This will be a charity event, so we forward to your support.
Love Jerry
Well I have been friends with Les for well over 25 years and I have always respected his talent and creativeness, however, his presentation of the White Ball this year completely blew me away. I know that he had a lot of help from Troy and a crew of many others that helped transform our Barn into a magical Winter Russian Palace. I am sure that I speak for everyone that attended thank you so much to all of you for a great time. It really was a lot of fun.
As I have always said in the past the Cedars to me is a place that is ever evolving and it is what we all make it for ourselves. After the dance I stepped out of my comfort zone yet once again this year and I accepted an invitation to a fire from fellow Cedarites that I have only just said a passing hello. What a nice group of people I met and I hope that they become friends. So thank you to wonderful hosts Mike and Will, your hospitality was warmly appreciated.
So far this year Mother Nature has not really been on our side but looking at the long range I think that we may have our first really nice week end of the summer of 09. This week end we have the amazing Miss C and the talented Teron Blake performing poolside on Sunday. However, if the weather is not with us they will be performing at the Barn. Please don't miss this show as it will be a fabulous presentation of talent.
Also, next week end we will be having the Leathermen, Cowboys and Bears OH MY! yes we will be having leather night on Friday with a contest to choose Mr. and Miss Cedars Leather. And then on Saturday we will be hosting the Cowboys and Cowgirls with a show at the Barn and followed by a country dance. So get your chaps, whips, chains, then your hats, boots and ropes for a week end of well to some fetish and to others just another chance to dress up.
What I love about this year so far is that everyone seems to really be into participating at the events and that is what makes putting them together so worthwhile.
Have a safe long week end and remember our rules and we will all have a great time.
Jerry
Sorry, to all for being very late this week. I have been fighting a cold and I am beating it. Thank God.
Although, I wasn't there as I had to work, I have heard all about the exciting "Underwear Party", and I have it on good sources that the party was a blast. Some really creative outfits and the music and energy were high sort of speaking. I will however be at the next one, you can bet on that.
Creative, top notch, incredible, wow, unbelievable, just some of the words used to describe this year's High Tea, hosted by Michael, Chris and David. It truly was "Wonderland". And a huge acknowledgement to all of their friends that also helped make everyone feel truly comfortable. Way to go all of you.
These two events were highly supported and attended by that bunch of hot guys and gals from the Downtown Soccer League. Their annual camping week end was yet once again a huge success. We look forward to their attendance every summer.
Do you have your "white wear" for this coming week end's White Ball? Everyone I speak to is so in anticipation to attend this event. Les and Troy have promised us an event that will be talked about for the rest of the year. White wear goes really nice with a tan, oh yeah, the rain, well maybe we can just spray one on.
The long week end is on the rise and the arrival of Miss Conception and Teron Blake to entertain us poolside on Sunday is also another anticipated event. If you remember last year Miss Conception had us screaming and singing and dancing along with her. Can't wait.
Well, it is back to bed for me as I want to be in fine form for the White Ball.
Jerry
Okay, Okay, so we knew that this past week end was going to be a lot of fun and excitement but really my friends and family, it went way beyond expectations. The week end was really a lot of fun. You could feel the energy as soon as your drove into the park. Which I may add looked fabulous. Bevan and Chris and staff, I don't know how you are going to improve but it looks great.
It started on Friday night at the pool bar, Kendall was playing and let me say this about that. I have heard Kendall play many many times through the years and I have to say he was so on Friday night. He truly was in fine form and his voice was so in tune and his selection of music so in tune with the crowd at the bar. There was a group of guys and gals at the end of the patio where he was playing and they were dancing and having a great time. I liked watching as they really were into what was going on and with each other.
From where I was standing, I was looking around and noticed that this particular week end, the 25th anniversary brought to the park many old seasonals to celebrate with us. One in fact was Nelly, who as you older ones may remember was quite an asset to the park.
Looking around you could also see our original owner Miss Zada and her best friend Miss Norma, two really gentile southern ladies; it was nice to see Miss Zada holding court yet once again.
We were also honoured by the presence of Mr. Paul Bellini and his friend another old seasonal Sean. Paul was there this week end doing a story about the campground for FAB magazine, he has a regular column and it is quite a good read. He is always up to something fun.
Early Saturday morning Mother Nature woke us up to an incredible thunder storm and I mean it was load and well, wet. I do so wonder when summer is going to start. But I won't bitch about that I mean we have what we have and like the troopers we are we do what we have to.
The Saturday evening show at the Barn, well Mr. O'Shey, you truly outdid yourself. I/we thank you for one of the most memorable shows we will ever see. And thank you to Tracy for helping Miss O'Shey pull this off. And of course to Rob for his stage managing and all else he did. The energy of the audience well, you could feel it and you could not help but be excited by it. I won't go into the individual performances as I know that I will miss something and there will be hell to pay for it by my fellow performers LOL, but I do want to say, the performers delivered. Although I wasn't in this show I want to say that from the performers point of view, you the audience are one of the best to perform in front of. I know that all feel the same way as we have talked about it.
The emotional heartfelt hosting from Mr. O'Shey with his way of taking us down the road of our hard fought history in fighting for our rights to the history of the park was very emotional and very much felt by all. Again thank you Mr. O'Shey.
There was so much going on at the dance that night and everyone having just a really good time. I want to also put a thank you out to our tech people Michael, Chris, David, Rick and of course D.J. Thunder. Also to the excellent bar staff that pretty well kept up with all of us wanting our cocktails and wanting them now and thanks to those that jumped in and helped stock and run for supplies.
With a park like ours that is in constant growth, we sometimes have new seasonals and sometimes it takes a while to get to know some of you. And well, sometimes like on Saturday night I come in contact with you while out having a smoke or what ever. Saturday night I met two seasonals that don't come out all that often, but I quite liked meeting you both and hope we see you both Bruce and Glen more often. And David thanks for making the introduction.
Sunday brought us to the celebrity dunk tank. Against my comfort zone I did participate and I must say the freaking water was very cold. Thank you to all that participated, bought balls to throw and to the audience. Thanks to Daniel, Rob and Derrick for making it run smoothly and thanks to Miss Zada and Chris for taking the money.
A huge round of applause as we raised $545.00 and Chris and Bevan advised us that they are going to cover the cost of the dunk tank which was $400.00 and they will top off the donation and bring it up to $1000.00 and the money will go to The Hamilton and Halton areas AIDS Network. I am sure that Jackie will issue a thank you very soon. Yeah! Cedars.
Upcoming we have on Friday July 17th the Underwear Party with Dancing Monkey at the Barn, so get your most comfortable and tight fitting underwear on, you know that ones that you model in front of the mirror when no one is around.
On Saturday July 18th the Downtown Soccer League will be joining us for their annual campout and boy can they kick some balls. Okay, its cheesy but what else can I say.
Also on Saturday July 18th at 2:00 PM sharp, Michael Chris and David will be hosting our annual High Tea and the theme this year is Alice in Wonderland. I am told theme dress is requested and if you don't have a costume don't fret and not show up as something will be provided for you, something nice I am told. I am also told that they will have a group punch available but anything else that you may want to drink, please bring your own. I am also advised that there will be light finger food available, this will not be a meal just some nice munchies so to speak.
Another exciting annual event coming up is on July 25th which is the Flip Flop Party which is hosted by David MacKentyre, (I know I spell this wrong all the time), so get them ready guys as this is always a well attended and enjoyed event.
Later that evening we will be having the spectacular Russian Winter Palace White Party. And as Les said he and Tracy have some amazing things planned so make sure you are in attendance to party this event. White wear is required. What a nice colour to show off our tans.
Well that is all for now my friends and family.
Love
Jerry
 Hey there seasonals:
Well, it was a beautiful week end, the weather was finally here and it was really warm during the day but not at night.
The dance on Friday night was really a lot of fun. The dance on Saturday night was a blast it looked like everyone was having fun.
Poolside saw some really nice fun happening during the day.
Thanks to Les, Randy and Greg for putting on a great Wacki Tacki event.
This coming week end should be really fun we are celebrating twenty five years. There will be entertainment by the Drag Kings poolside Saturday afternoon as well as the celebrity dunktank. Later that evening we will have a really big show at the Barn hosted by our own Lesley O'Shey this will start at 9:00 PM SHARP!
And the following week end will be the Tea Dance being hosted by Chris, Michael, and Dave. The theme is Alice in Wonderland, so please use your creativity and dress accordingly.
Don't forget to get your most "fitted" underwear for the party on Friday July 17th.
Please make sure you read the posters for the White Dance as this is going to be a great event and one not to be missed. Also, Jason would like you to email him any pictures that you take for the website.
Take care.
Jerry
 Kwe' my Cedars Family
A huge success for the first full fun filled week end of entertainment and frivolity and I could tell that everyone really enjoyed themselves.
We at the Red Roof were kept busy all week end making sure that you were all fed with some really fine inexpensive food. The spaghetti dinners went over well and please keep checking on the website under the Red Roof for upcoming specials. I have to say that on Friday night, you know when you all came in at once and sat down for dinner, well, thank you to all of you it was really fun and you all seemed to being having a really good time moving from table to table and just really enjoying everyone there. Sorry to the ones that couldn't get a seat. But it really was a party atmosphere.
Then I guess you all went up to see Kendall at the Barn as it was really fun up there as well so I hear. If you haven't heard Kendal as yet please make sure to catch him the next time he plays at the Cedars he really is one of my favorite performers.
Now, I know it has already been said many many times in the last twenty four hours and by everyone that was there. A huge huge thank you to Les, Troy, Andrew and Daniel for the wonderful event put on at the Barn on Saturday night "Mama Mia" the movie... the decorations were fabulous and very "Greek Island", and the event had a great feeling, which was due to all of you. Thank you. And a BIG thank you to Glenda Rose and Blue Belle for their scrumptious buffet "Po-corn a la sac." It was very tasty...
Due to the rain on Saturday the golf cart rally had to be cancelled. However, it will be rescheduled for this coming Saturday at noon. Everyone will be meeting at the Pavilion and please just show up there even if you don't have a golf cart as I am sure that someone will make sure that you can get on a team as long as there is a golf cart available. Derrick assures me that this year the clues will be a little easier.
Want to put a hey out to Pierre, my new friend that I met over the week end. It seems that we have all these new seasonals and we just keep meeting more and more new and interesting people.
Now here is something I learned over the week end. As you are all aware Canada Day is coming up on Wednesday July 1st and again I have just learned that Cedars will be having a big Canada Day Dance on Tuesday June 30th with our own D.J. Thunder at the spinning table. AND the Red Roof will be open for dinner on the Tuesday night and will be open and serving breakfast on the morning of Canada Day until 1:00pm. So if you are off and want to celebrate with a group of great people then please join us for our country's party celebration. Maybe we could all wear Canada shirts. I'm just saying... or have Canadian Flags on our cars, again I'm just saying...
There are so many huge events coming up that just should not be missed, I'm just saying... I'm going to be late; I'm going to be late...
And think White White White and I don't mean a person I mean the colour, the White Party I hear that is in the planning process right now and is going to be one huge electric event.
Also the big 25th Anniversary Celebration week end of July 11th is going to go down in History Girl...
This is a top notch entertainment week end... Drag Kings during the day poolside and well, at night, well all of us performers are going to tear down the house with our talent to entertain you all at the Barn.

 Kwe' My Brothers and Sisters,
OMG, what a really nice week end we have just had. I mean we couldn't have asked for better weather.
And boy was the park ever busy, what with the group that came in for Jackie's HOPE event, the Hamilton Pride people and the week end campers that came. It sure made for lots of fun all week end long.
Huge thanks go out to Les for putting together another top notch show. Thank you to all of the performers that gave us their time and talent.
Also a huge thanks to Michael, Chris, Rob, D.J. Thunder and Rick for the stage and lighting and music for without them the show just does not go on.
We at the Red Roof had a great week end serving up some really great food and we thank all of you that came in and helped make it so great. Remember to check their page on the website for info and upcoming specials.
The pool bar was sure busy all week end and a huge thank you to the performers that gave of their time for entertaining us as well.
I can't believe when I look around the park and see how much we are growing and so very quickly. I mean there is hardly a spot where one can now put a trailer. And with growth come a lot of new personalities to the park.
Walking home from the dance on Saturday night I stopped at Lesley Ann's and Randy's fire for a quick beer and I was just so reminded about how many different walks of life are in the park. We really do come from all corners of the lesbian, gay, transgendered and bi community. I mean I have learned so much just from my short conversations with Lesley Ann and I thank her for her friendship.
It also makes me realize how many different people come up to us from the States, I mean we really are from all over and cover all cultures. A person can find a park like ours very rich in the amount of learning available just by making new friends. We really are a great family.
James we missed you, why did you stay home in London, don't you know how needy Rob gets when you aren't here. LOL
The dance on Saturday night was hot, it was one of those dances that come every so often, and the mood was right on with everyone. There was so much laughter and carry on that it made for a great night. The music certainly helped as well as the dance floor was proof on that.
This coming week end we have movie night on Saturday night at the Barn, the theme is Mama Mia and well I think that this just might be a really fun night. Who knows what the committee has in store for us. I do so love the music.
Well that is it for now.
Love

Well, I think that this week end we turned the corner. We didn't have to turn on the fireplace and I didn't see my breath when walking home from Frank and Rob's on Saturday night. Now, it is not as hot as I would like it but I think that we may be on our way. I personally love the really hot humid weather. I mean I like it when it is really hot. During the day I love it especially if I am around the pool. And at night I love it when you are just sitting around visiting with friends. I mean you can always cool down in oh so many ways. We didn't have any of those evenings last summer as the summer weather really sucked but I think that we may be in for some this year.
I had a great week end, and I thank Rob and Frank for a great dinner on Saturday night and for some good conversation while sitting around the fire ring.
I would also love to thank all of the people that came in to the Red Roof this week end, on behalf of myself and all of the other staff and Myrn, it was a pleasure. We also had a "turn the corner" week end there as we sure got busy all week end. Our thanks also for being patient as there is only so much that the cook can put out and when everyone comes in at once, well the wait can be a little longer. However, everyone was so cool and patient and just made the whole week end sail smoothly.
This mornings breakfast was most interesting, must have been a great night up at the dance. I really wanted to make it up there but I knew I had to do the morning shift and I knew I had to have a smile on my face. I have no discipline once I have a beer.
The pool deck on Saturday afternoon was rocking, I mean the hot sun and Dancing Monkey's music and I just loved being up there and being surrounded by friends and some really hot guys and gals. Was it me or did anyone else notice that some people just wear "American Eagle" underwear really well. I have to say that the beer was really cold and it made it even more refreshing. One of these days I am going to get Mona to make me one of those creamy drinks. I don't do liquor well, but they look so good.
I really missed Cathy and her new husband this week end, I have gotten used to her having her posse over and they really have a great time. What I really miss though is her singing, I mean it is really good stuff. She has promised to come out and perform at our 25th anniversary show on July 11th. Speaking of that show, it is really going to be one hell of a show, one not to be missed.
This coming week end is the Heroes of Hope event being hosted by our own Jackie. There will be some interesting things happening all week end. It will be educational and entertaining. Also, there will be a show at the Barn on Saturday night. If you want to be in the show please see Les.
Once again would like to give a shout out to Luc and Daniel for their gift to me, I really appreciated it. Thanks.
We have a new sponsor this year for the Leather, Cowboys and Bears OH MY week end. That sponsor is George's Play on Church and we welcome them to our Cedars Family. I will have more on this later in the season.
Also, love seeing all you techies making use of our new internet caf, if you don't know about this please see Chris or Bevan.
I'm just saying, I mean are there a lot of new seasonals or what, I keep meeting new and really interesting (hot) people. And is just me or do other guys notice that our sisters are really on par with us now, I mean they just love to party and well be sexually open about what they want and they go after it. I like that in a woman. I'm just askingare we going to have to have an "area" for them as well. And if we do can someone let us know. LOL
Some interesting relationships on the new right now, but not mentioning any names. Not yet anyway.
Please watch and check regularly for upcoming specials at the Red Roof, please check on our home page for updates and info from Myrn regarding this.
Also, I have it on good source that two "old guard" seasonals will be coming back to join our family, however this time they are a couple now and a beautiful couple at that.
It was also great to see my beautiful sisters Laurie and Barb up for the whole week end.

Well my Cedar's Family, what a great week end we had. The weather was fantastic and the music on Saturday night was rocking. I meant to dance, but when I wanted to get around to it, well, the dance was over.
I also want to call attention to that rocking Dancing Monkey who rocked the pool bar on Saturday, way to go. And I saw that Mona was totally in her element.
I made my first appearance at the dance on Saturday night and I had a blast. It was great to see Fred and Rob behind the bar.
My fabulous sisters Laurie and Barb made their first appearance as well and it was great to see them. As always it was great to see so many people just really enjoying themselves. It seems to me that we have a great thing going on at the Barn. Like many I live in Toronto and since turning 40 so many years ago I have become invisible but when I go to our dances I feel I fit in. And that makes me feel good. I want to say hey to my new Newfie friend, I didn't get your name but I certainly remember certain body parts as you were dancing and out having a smoke with us. You got to love a man with tattoos.
I was glad to see Cassie out having a good time, even though she is in the middle of a sinus attack, thank you for educating us on something that I just didn't know. Mona is sure one lucky gal.
I also saw and met some new members of the park and that was really neat. Since I was partaking in a beer tasting event I may have forgotten some of your names but not your faces. Some really good looking new members to our family.
I have been asked to highlight a few of the rules and regulations, so here goes...
Quiet time is between 11:00 PM and 9:00 AM everyday.
Please park your vehicle on your site and not on the road or grassy areas. As this causes ruts and makes it very difficult to cut the grass with our cutters and so then the park just doesn't look as nice.
Please remember that the garbage cans that are scattered around the park are for week-end campers, so seasonals please bring your garbage to the front and dispose of it.
Pets are greatly appreciated, however, there seems to be a new problem so far this year, and that is the fact that many are not picking up after them. It is not very nice trying to cut grass and finding it all over the grass cutting equipment. Please pick up after your pets. It will really show our respect for the people that look after the park for us. And also, please do not turn over a garbage can in the camper sections to put in your pet's waste as this means that we will only have to change the bag and that runs up costs. Please take your pets waste with you and put it in your own site's garbage.
All work using generators will only be allowed during the hours of 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM, and please no hammering until after 9:00 AM.
Please note, if you are selling your trailer and whether it is new or old, you have to inform Chris or Bevan about the fact that you are going to sell it to someone within the park.
Upcoming event is the Hero of Hope week end, this is a new event for the park and it is being put on by one of our own, Jackie. Please see the poster on this website and check out their website for more info about this fine organization. Also, if anyone wants to perform in the show as advertised please see Les for more information.
Love,
Jerry
So, Myrn and I go up to the park today as Myrn has to clean out some of the equipment in the restaurant, you know, to keep things clean and such. Well, how can I say this without sounding so cliche, what a difference a day makes. I mean just a couple of days ago, while we were supposed to be celebrating our first long week end of the season, well, we were busy thinking of ways to keep warm. And then today it is like we are in the middle of July. But on the other hand, isn't good to know what we are in for this summer.
There are so many fun and exciting things planned for this summer, really exciting things that I can't wait to participate in and I will be promoting them as we go along.
One thing that is new and ready to open this week end is our Internet Cafe, and no it is not wireless. For those that don't know as yet, we have wire connections set up in the area at the side of the Red Roof where you can bring your laptop and connect to the world. You will have to register with Chris or Bevan and pay a one time fee of $29.00 for the summer and you will be given a password. I also ask that you do not share your password with others as that will just make the whole thing go away. Remember that these things must pay for themselves if we are to enjoy modern technology while at our summer place.
Please note as this is very important, when you go in to pay your seasonal and sign your summer agreement you will be given a copy of this year's newsletter from the owners. One of the things that will be of interest is the fact that water will no longer be delivered to your site if you do not have a black/grey water tank. This is just one of the items that you should know.Plus, this is really quite fun, you will also be given aframe, and these frames will be part of our25th anniversay celebration. What we would like is for you to puta picture of yourselfin the frame and then it will be put on the wall of fame up at the Barn for all to enjoy. This will have to be done by July 11 as that is the week end of our official celebration and the night of the big show at the Barn. There will be many VIPS in the park that week end.
You will also notice on the sign board that we are now registering the Cedars Softball team and to register please see the office. Our team will be taking on the staight boys and girls from Airport Ford on August 15th . In the past, maybe ten years ago, the Cedars softball team went undefeated against all the small town teams in the area, and I remember that we had a blast doing it. The baseball diamond if being rebuilt to spec and will be a great time for us all.
Also, just a reminder that the hours of the Red Roof are for dinner 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and for breakfast we will be open from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. We the staff of the restaurant want to thank you all for all your nice compliments and words of encouragement.
Although I didn't make it up to the dances last week end I did overhear the conversations in the morning while I was serving you your breakfasts and I must say that I heard over and over again how fabulous our D.J.'s Thunder and Dancing Monkey were. I mean really a lot of really good comments.
Also, we have a lot of new seasonals this year so reach out and touch some. Lets make everyone feel really comfortable and at home at our park.
Love,
Jerry
Hmmm! I was going to start this post with OMG I have just had a few beers and then I realized that I have said that in the last few posts. Oh well, it is true I have had a few beers and here is an update.
What a great evening I have had tonight, you know sometimes you say I'm just not going to do that and then something changes your mind and you do it. Well, that happened tonight. I wasn't going to attend the Cedars Party at the Werxs in Hamilton tonight as I didn't want to get into drinking and driving sort of thing and I didn't want to ask my sister Lily Belle if I could stay with her as my other sister Liberty Belle had already called that pull out. And quite frankly I just don't know any hotel to stay at, as I don't know if the, well you know the men's hotel was still open. And if you really want to know, I am just to damned old to be waking up in a strange room with one closet with a towel as a blanket and wondering what the hell am I doing here. Well, we do all know the answer to that.
However, I did go as my sister Myrn who is a non-drinker said she wanted to go and well we went. I am glad that we did. I haven't been to the Werx since the new owners Tom and Michael took over, in fact I haven't been there since it was called the, I think the 121, (forgive me if I have the name wrong), and wow! I was quite taken aback. What a really nice bar. I don't know if it was the present owners or the previous owner Damion that made all of the changes but the bar is really quite nice. In fact with the dcor, the staff, and the music, I wish that we had that kind of bar here in Toronto.
So, thank you to Michael and Tom for giving us a great place to have a Cedars Party. And please thank your staff and yourselves for the warm welcome that we felt.
It was great to see so many people out for this event, especially Old Lady Wiggins, whom I didn't think could stay up past 9:00 PM without falling asleep. My own special hunk Steven of the Jeff and Steven partnership. Also that sexy Jimmy Hall and his ever so hot hunky lover, I don't know if you guys work there or not but thank you both for making everyone feel welcome.
I could go on and on, but why bother, you get the drift. Oh, btw, it was really nice to see Chris and I am sorry that Derrick couldn't make it, no really I am.
Did everyone wish our great summer host Chris a (not the Chris I mentioned earlier), a very Happy Birthday. Myrn and I did and then felt OMG, we are old enough to be his father. If you are white trash you will understand this.
All in all it was a great time, and was really nice to see Josh behind the bar as well. And I might mention that there were some personalities that were definitely missing, Mona, Kim, Joe, etc. etc...
Well, yes in a few weeks we will be starting the 2009 season. There is so much planned to make this season a special one as it is our twenty fifth season.
You will notice that there has been some changes in the schedule since first posted, so please check the new schedule.
I think that Jason did a fabulous job on redesigning the website and if you feel the same, please let him know.
Myrn is eagerly putting together another fabulous menu for the upcoming season and he and his "crew" look forward to serving you and making your visit to the Red Roof and very enjoyable one.
A huge congrats to Cathy and Sam on their marriage and I loved the photos and hope that your trip to Paris was unforgettable.
We have lost some people during the winter, both from inside the park and from our families. For believers I say God Bless, and for others, I know that we all feel for our friends and our families.
In closing this dialogue I just want to say that in four weeks we will all be opening up our trailers and campsites and all of us will be renewing new friendships and making new ones.
Remember what Cedars is all about and I am sure that we will have a great Twenty Fifth Anniversary.
Love
Jerry
Okay so here it is the first day of spring and well, just what is on my mind. Well I don't know about you but the upcoming season at Cedars is really on my mind at this point.
Mind you I have just consumed six beers and watched some of the past shows at Cedars and well it just makes me kind of homesick for the park.
Now I assume that everyone is back from their traveling and getaways for the winter and what a winter it has been. It has been cold, cold, cold. It starting snowing in November and just never gave up. I was in Orillia during February and I expect lots of snow up there but we actually had as much as they had. That is bad. I have heard some of the dirty dish on the things that our Cedars family have done on their travels, now I'm not saying I have heard everything or that these things have been confirmed but wow! We do carry on! My dear dear sister Lily Belle was tea bagging in Mexico and our dear dear sister Blue Belle was doing body shots off of pour little boys that dance for a living, if you get my drift.
Myrn and I have also just gotten back from Florida where we spent 16 days with Zada and her friends. Let me tell you if you want a great vacation just put it in the hands of a great lady. Zada and her friends made sure that we had a great time. Myrn and I flew into Tampa and Zada and Shirley picked us up and from there we went on to Savannah and St. Augustine. We spent a week just traveling around and having a great time with each other and then back to Homo Sassa. Well we just had a great time and got some colour and made some really nice new friends.
Speaking of Florida I got an email from Chris tonight and he and Bevan just got back from Fort Lauderdale and I am sure they are both really really tanned, and I can't wait to hear all about it.
Now it has been a really long winter and we don't get to see each other too much but if you did participate in some of the parties that were put on during the winter at various bars and one upcoming at the Werx in April well then you have kept up with some of the goings-on sort of speak.
Since last October some people have suffered losses and some have also planned for upcoming wonderful events, so let us all be grateful for all that we have and remember to hug all of your old friends in the next six weeks.
So here we are six weeks until the park opens, and well what a season we have planned for you. Chris, Les and I met in mid January to plan this year's schedule and what a schedule we have planned. You see this is our twenty fifth anniversary year and well, we want to party party party. Yes it is going to be an exciting year for sure.
As you are all aware, we have so much talent in the park and talent in many many ways. So we have decided to kick the year off with a fabulous show at the Barn. This show will be the Silver Anniversary Year Kick Off Party. I mean I can't wait to see such performers as Glenda Rose, Mona, Derrick, The Horseshoe Harlots, Kim, etc. I mean really what a way to start a new year. So please let me know that you are interested in performing at the kick off party. And I hope that our talented techs crew will also be excited about helping out for the show. You just can't do a show without light and sound, Michael, Chris, David, our fabulous D.J. Thunder and his partner in lights Rick. And who can do a show without the stage management of our fabulous Big Daddy, Rob. I would mention my sister Cora in this line as well but since she got a taste of the stage last year I am sure that that is where we will see her. And I can't wait.
And if I am in the show please make sure that my brother Butch his partner Phil and my sister Tim is certainly in the audience.
We have many many exciting things planned for this exciting year and I can't wait for many of them. I have been asked not to go to far in to what is planned but I ask you, please be ready for a great year.
Our official party to celebrate our twenty fifty anniversary will be July 11 and we will have live entertainment and as well Miss Zada and Miss Norma will be in attendance.
By the way, Myrn will be running the restaurant again this year and from what I hear that is a good thing. So make sure to plan your meals with us at the Red Roof.
I am sure that I speak for Chris, Bevan and Ken in saying that we can't wait to see you all coming into the park for another great season and want to see you all participating in our Silver Anniversary Year.
Love
Jerry
OMG, it sure has been a very cold winter so far, and a couple months of this still to go. But we can make it, as I sit here in front of my fireplace, smoking a cig and having a cold blue.
Well, I hope that everyone had a great Christmas season, or whatever season anyone celebrates, (far to many to list), it is like the gay community now, I just can't remember all the letters.
It seems that there has been no shortage of parties happening this winter, and I guess that is reflective of the wide range of friendships and feelings of family that we cultivate at the Cedars. Something that we should all be very proud of.
I want to express excitement about the Winter Party coming up on January 24th at the Werx in Hamilton so if you can make it and want to see some old friends please support this event.
Then if you are still in the mood to party please attend the monthly social of the Cedars Family at Gladaman's Den on Saturday January 31st.
I know grrr... your dance card is so full.
Early this week I got such a rush of warm memories of summers past as I received an email from Chris yes, you know the owner of the park, well I am on first name basis with him and his husband. Well anyway, he is pushing for a meeting with myself and Les to get together and plan this year's social calendar.
And what a calendar it is going to be, I mean come on people we are going to be celebrating 25 years of service.
Just a few hints, there are going to be some old events and some new events and maybe some old events brought back, I mean the list goes on and on. And some events may be even combined to make them even bigger events. The entertainment this year is going to be top notch, (not that it ever hasn't been).
But alas, it is still January and everyday I hear from people whether on Facebook or phone or whatever and it seems that a lot of people are planning on going south in the next couple of months, including myself and Myrn and well, why not I mean it would be great to start the season off with a tan.
I have noticed that this year our forum is not so active, I guess Facebook has taken hold. I mean even I am on it, so that is that.
Well, my brothers and sisters I hope to see all of you soon, whether at a social or down south I can't wait to hug and kiss all of you.
Love
Jerry
